B2B Lead Research · Account Intelligence

Find the right B2B companies, the right buyers and the strongest verifiable contact routes for your market.

D2 researches companies against the ICP you approve, checks why each account fits, maps the buyer function, verifies professional contact routes where available, and hands the result to your sales team in a structured format. You provide the target market, offer, ICP, buyer roles and required fields; D2 defines the research and QA scope before recurring delivery.

Common buying jobs

Three practical ways to buy the same Lead Intelligence system.

These briefs use the same B2B Sale Research evidence and QA framework. When source or direct-contact coverage is uncertain, D2 starts with a bounded sample and reports the gap state instead of guessing a buyer or email.

01

Find qualified target accounts

For sales teams that know the offer and ICP but need a researched account universe instead of a broad database export.

Output

Account register with ICP fit/reject reason, source context, relevant observable evidence when required, freshness status and QA state.

Boundary

Account fit does not imply purchase intent. A why-now signal is included only when the brief requires it and the event can be verified.

02

Map buyers and verifiable contact routes

For teams that already have target accounts but need to identify who owns the problem and how sales can reach the account professionally.

Output

Buyer function or named buyer where verifiable, source/confidence context, strongest professional/company route, and explicit contact gaps.

Boundary

For a Contact Enrichment deliverable, a verified named buyer and DIRECT business email with VALID status are required before marking the enriched contact complete. Account research without contracted enrichment is assessed against the research acceptance criteria.

03

Find distributors, dealers or channel partners

For manufacturers and vendors entering a market through distributors, wholesalers, dealers, resellers or other channel partners.

Output

Channel ICP, account/operating evidence, purchasing or owner-function mapping, contact route and a review-ready partner shortlist.

Boundary

This use case starts as a bounded sample where market-specific channel/contact coverage is not yet proven at recurring scale.

Choose your sales model · Four priority applications

One research methodology. Four different buyer decisions.

Start with the industry of YOUR sales business, then inspect its target account, trigger checks, research acceptance and potential first conversation. These are different views of existing canonical pages, not four new SEO URLs.

Explore industry applications

One research method. Different ways your sales team makes money.

Choose the industry of the business buying research from D2—not necessarily the industry of its target accounts. These 36 possible applications sit in nine groups; a linked sector opens an existing published page or a tailored, non-indexable view within it.

Industry descriptions are possible research applications, not proven projects, published case studies or guarantees of available buyer data. Where a sector has no separate link, D2 must check ICP and source feasibility before accepting an assignment.

Research built around the advisory service you actually sell

Legal, recruitment and advisory teams need different account opportunities.

A law firm advising investors, a staffing provider looking for hiring clients and a tax advisory firm do not sell the same service to the same buyer. Choose your offering to see the target account, relevant observable event and realistic research acceptance criteria.

Your service

Corporate legal, investment & M&A

Corporate law, foreign investment, M&A due diligence and transaction support

WHO — Target Account ICP
Investors, acquirers, multinational companies and operating businesses with transactions, entities or jurisdictions matching the firm's licensed services.
WHY & WHEN — Opportunity ICP
Public investment approvals, business establishment or announced acquisitions can justify examining advisory fit; they do not prove an open legal mandate.
Relevant buyer functions
General Counsel, Corporate Development, Investment, Finance, Management
Key exclusions and unknowns
Existing firm clients, out-of-jurisdiction mandates, conflicting interests, speculative transactions and firms without matching services

Research triggers worth checking

  • Dated investment, entity-establishment or acquisition announcement
  • Verified new operating geography or corporate restructuring milestone

How sales can use the research

Prepare a factual reason to ask about transaction scope or jurisdiction and determine whether external legal support is relevant.

What could the first 30–60 days of research prove?

Evaluate a legal advisory opportunity before calling it a mandate.

This is a proposed method and acceptance checklist, not delivered client results, verified opportunities or guaranteed sales. Your exact ICP, research hours and output need a feasibility review.

Who buys D2 research — and who their sales team targets
The research buyer is a corporate law or investment advisory firm. Its TARGET accounts may be investors, cross-border operators or companies making a documented structural change—not other law firms.
What is different from a static list or AI lookup
A generic FDI or investment list says who exists. Research separates legal entity, relevant jurisdiction, transaction stage, publicly observable event and potential internal sponsor; it cannot establish that external counsel is needed or not already appointed.
Minimum evidence before suggesting contact
Verify the legal operating entity, dated issuer announcement and a primary filing/approval or other source appropriate to the jurisdiction. An investment headline without the actual entity and timing stays a research gap.
When this is NOT a qualified account
Reject if the issue is outside the firm's practice or jurisdiction, the company is an existing client/exclusion, the event is only speculation or there is no plausible service-to-event link.

First 30 days · Test the research

01

Calibrate practice scope

Which advisory mandate, market and deal stages are within scope?

Research output to inspect: Account ICP, service-specific exclusions and an approved source hierarchy.

02

Inspect candidate cases

Does a disclosed event create a plausible question in this practice area?

Research output to inspect: Entity and event research with direct source URLs, dates and contradiction notes.

03

Review sales usability

Can the partner or BD team ask a relevant, non-presumptive question?

Research output to inspect: Buyer-function map, first question and KEEP / HOLD / EXCLUDE feedback.

Days 31–60 · Decide whether to continue

Recheck event dates and deal stages, identify weak practice-area matches, and decide whether an ongoing research team can supply enough usable account briefs per agreed research hour.

Review with sales — acceptance checklist

  • Approved practice, jurisdiction and account/entity fit.
  • Dated event evidence or explicit NO_VERIFIED_SIGNAL; no invented legal mandate.
  • Relevant legal, finance, strategy or expansion buyer function, not a guessed named individual.
  • Partner/BD review of suitability and gaps, tracked against researcher hours.

A realistic opening question

Which part of the announced expansion is being handled internally, and where might jurisdiction-specific external advice be relevant?

From public example to private Client Sales Room

After D2 reviews your actual ICP and source feasibility, an authorized, expiring private link can show up to five real account briefs, capture accept/reject feedback, and display an issued proposal when one exists. There is no public sample link to another client's room.

Named-person email verification, outreach and appointment setting are separately scoped. No fixed account yield, meetings, sales pipeline or revenue is guaranteed by a research evaluation.

An evidence-first sales decision, not an invented buyer intent

What would make an account worth a sales conversation?

This is a fictional research exercise, not a live account, named buyer or evidence of a contract. Each potential account must be checked against the client's offer, approved ICP, exclusions and actual source record.

Illustrative scenario — Corporate legal, investment & M&A

Illustration: an international manufacturer announces an investment in a new market. D2 would first confirm the investing entity, transaction stage and jurisdictions relevant to the firm's legal practice.

Sources we would investigate
  • Official investment or company announcement plus the underlying operating/legal entity
  • Dated registry filing, public transaction disclosure or project approval relevant to the jurisdiction
What could make the timing misleading?
The company may already have appointed counsel, be acting through another jurisdiction or need no external legal adviser at this stage.
A realistic opening question
Which part of the investment or corporate structure would require local external advice, if any?
Common sales concern
We can already find foreign-invested companies ourselves.
What research adds (and what it cannot)
A foreign-investment directory identifies a category, not a mandate. Research adds entity context, sourced event timing, a plausible legal advisory issue and the right buyer function—but cannot prove the company is hiring a law firm.

QA decision: what D2 would keep, hold or exclude

ICP CANDIDATE

Consider for review

Correct entity and offer fit, approved exclusions passed and a relevant buyer function. WHY_NOW is recorded only when evidence actually supports it; candidate is not a proven buyer.

RESEARCH GAP

Hold uncertainty

The account may fit but public timing, buyer responsibility or source confidence is unresolved. Record NO_VERIFIED_SIGNAL, BUYER_GAP or UNKNOWN as appropriate; do not create synthetic evidence.

ICP EXCLUDED

Do not hand off

Wrong market, function, category or scope; unsupported claims, existing CRM account or a disqualifying exclusion. Reject even if an impressive news headline exists.

A real QA result requires source URLs, dates, approved criteria and reviewer checks. A 5-account private evaluation, if agreed, is different from this public fictional method. Named-person DIRECT email is only a separately scoped Contact Enrichment output.

Core: B2B Sale Research

Core B2B Sale Research qualifies target accounts against agreed Account ICP, exclusions, WHY_SELECTED, evidence and the relevant buyer function. WHY_NOW is analyzed at the agreed research depth; missing or contradictory signals stay explicit. Named contacts and verified DIRECT emails require separately scoped Contact Enrichment; they are not a default Core acceptance gate.

Optional, separately scoped

Contact Enrichment (named contacts and verified DIRECT business emails), Email Outreach and Appointment Setting. None is included automatically in research hours or promised by a sample.

What to evaluate in the first 30–60 days

In the first 30–60 days, evaluate research quality and usability with your sales team. Actual meetings, sales-qualified opportunities or revenue depend on client outreach and buying decisions, not on research acceptance alone.

  • Account fit, operating entity and exclusion / CRM-overlap checks
  • Dated evidence or an explicit NO_VERIFIED_SIGNAL / UNKNOWN result
  • Buyer-function relevance, a usable sales question and feedback
  • Hours spent, QA acceptance and issues to recalibrate in the next cycle

Examples are research hypotheses, not known legal, M&A, recruiting or tax mandates. Entity formation, a job ad or a regulation alone does not prove demand for outside advisers. A view-only evaluation of up to five accounts is conditional on ICP and source feasibility; jurisdiction and professional rules must be checked.

B2B account research • Validate before scaling

Don't buy a generic contact list. Test B2B lead research against your real ICP.

A useful record explains why an account fits, who owns the buying problem and which details can actually be verified.

01

Standard contact lists

Usually start with company names and contact fields, leaving qualification to Sales.

02

Do-it-yourself AI research

Can be powerful, but your team must run source review, buyer mapping, email checks and QA.

03

D2 Sale Research

ICP-led research with a selection rationale, evidenced buyer/contact, dedupe and quality gates.

Buying signals, WHY_NOW and buying windows only apply at the agreed L2/L3 depth when real evidence supports them.

View up to 5 researched accounts

Share your offer, market, ICP and buyer functions. D2 checks feasibility before providing up to five sourced account briefs for view-only evaluation, without bulk export.

Who this is for

Useful when the sales team needs better pipeline inputs, not simply more names.

Use D2 when an internal sales or growth team needs better account research, buyer context and qualification evidence before it decides who to contact and how.

01

The ICP exists, but research quality is inconsistent.

Standardize account criteria, exclusions, evidence, buyer functions and review rules so every accepted lead can be audited.

02

The business is entering a new market.

Map relevant companies, observed signals and buyer functions before sales invests time in outreach.

03

Sales needs a cleaner handoff.

Deliver the account, evidence, source dates, buyer context, contactability, unknowns and next action in one review-ready record.

Intelligence system

Five layers from ICP to a sales-ready lead.

Each layer improves the quality and auditability of the handoff without turning research into managed outbound execution.

ICP & exclusions

Translate the commercial hypothesis into account criteria, exclusions, geography, company attributes, buyer functions and minimum evidence requirements.

Account discovery

Find candidate companies and preserve source context instead of relying on opaque bulk lists.

Evidence-backed qualification

Explain why the account fits, why it may need the service and why the timing is relevant, while separating observed facts from inference.

Buyer & contact mapping

Identify the buyer function and verify available professional contact data with source and confidence context.

Sales-ready handoff

Deliver one complete lead record with qualification evidence, buyer context, recommended angle, open questions and a clear next action for the client's sales team.

Ownership boundary

B2B Sale Research is the core service; outreach and appointments are optional add-ons.

Research and permission to send are separate. Add-ons require agreement on sender, message approvals, privacy, replies and scheduling.

Client retains

  • Offer, pricing and commercial positioning
  • Final ICP and exclusion approval
  • CRM and first-party customer data
  • Brand, legal and compliance approval
  • Discovery, proposal, negotiation and closing decisions

D2 can own

  • ICP research specification
  • Account discovery and evidence collection
  • Qualification and data QA
  • Buyer-function and contact mapping
  • Sales-ready lead records and CRM-ready handoff

What you receive

A lead is delivered as an auditable intelligence record, not a row of contact data.

The brief defines the research fields and acceptance criteria. Account research may retain buyer or contact gaps when disclosed. When Contact Enrichment is contracted, only verified direct business emails count toward completed contact records.

01

Account & ICP qualification

Company/domain, target geography, industry, agreed ICP attributes, exclusions and a written qualification reason.

02

Signal & evidence context

Observed signal where relevant, source URL, published/observed date, last-verified date and a clear separation between fact and need hypothesis.

03

Buyer & contactability

Relevant buyer function, available professional contact route, verified email/company route when available, backup emails and phone status when phone is in scope.

04

Sales-ready handoff

Qualification rationale, confidence and unknowns, recommended outreach angle and the next action for the client's sales team or CRM.

Acceptance standard

A lead is accepted because it meets the brief and evidence standard—not because a name was found.

D2 and the client confirm the ICP, exclusions, buying roles, timing, research depth, monthly volume and quality thresholds before production. Each research dossier is assessed against that scope. If verified direct contact details are specifically contracted, a completed contact record must pass the separate contact verification gate.

ICP match

The company satisfies the agreed geography, industry, size, business model and exclusion rules that apply to the brief.

Traceable evidence

Qualification and any why-now signal preserve source context and dates; fact is separated from inference.

Freshness

Signal and contact freshness are disclosed and checked against the recency standard agreed for the batch or market.

Buyer coverage

The relevant buyer function is identified, or the record states clearly when ownership could not be confirmed.

Contactability

Required contact fields are verified when available. Phone is never implied for every lead unless the brief explicitly requires it and availability supports it.

QA, duplicates & replacement

Duplicate/error checks and rejection reasons are recorded. Replacement rules are defined in the pilot or commercial scope rather than assumed universally.

Pricing & scope

Pricing follows target market, research depth and delivery requirements.

D2 scopes the unit of work after the brief. A simple account-research batch and a signal-rich buyer/contact intelligence batch require different research and QA effort.

Target geography & source difficulty

Public-source availability, language, market fragmentation and verification difficulty affect research effort.

Volume & batch cadence

Number of accounts/contacts, weekly or monthly batch size, turnaround expectations and feedback cycles shape capacity.

Research depth

Account-only discovery costs less effort than evidence-backed qualification plus buyer-function and contact mapping.

Signal & freshness requirements

Specific signal types, source/date capture, freshness windows and re-verification add research and QA work.

Contact requirements

Professional email/company routes, backup-email coverage, phone requirements and role specificity change the research burden and achievable coverage.

Delivery & QA format

Spreadsheet vs CRM-ready structure, custom fields, deduplication against client data and review/replacement rules affect scope.

Ways to start

Start with the intelligence gap that slows sales down.

Start with a view-only preview of up to five researched accounts where feasible, then monthly account research. Email Outreach and Appointment Setting can be added under separate approved terms.

New market

Map qualified accounts before sales invests in outreach.

Test whether a market contains enough relevant companies, observable need signals and identifiable buyer functions.

ICP quality

Replace broad lists with evidence-backed account qualification.

Define why an account belongs in the ICP and require traceable evidence for each accepted lead.

Buyer mapping

Identify who owns the problem inside the account.

Map buyer functions, likely decision roles and contact evidence so sales does not start from a generic company record.

Sales handoff

Standardize what sales receives before first contact.

Package the account, buyer, evidence, why-now signal, recommended angle and unresolved questions into one auditable record.

Research process

Define → discover → verify → qualify → hand off.

The core workflow delivers useful account intelligence. Sending and scheduling are available only through separately contracted add-ons; commercial negotiation stays with the client.

01

Define

Set ICP, exclusions, buyer functions, evidence requirements, geography and acceptance criteria.

02

Discover

Find candidate accounts from appropriate public, licensed or client-provided sources.

03

Verify

Validate company facts, source provenance, available contacts and duplicate state.

04

Qualify

Document why this account, why it may need the offer, why now, the buyer role and confidence/limitations.

05

Hand off

Deliver a review-ready record or CRM import with recommended outreach angle and next action.

Measurement

Measure research acceptance and handoff quality, not email open rates.

D2 measures whether the intelligence delivered is complete, traceable, useful to sales and consistent with the agreed ICP. Downstream sales outcomes are tracked only when the client shares them.

Four recurring B2B Sale Research decisions

Accept

Accept a lead when it matches the agreed ICP, evidence and handoff requirements.

Refresh

Re-verify source dates, account facts or contactability when evidence has become stale.

Research

Keep researching when fit is plausible but buyer ownership, evidence or contact coverage is incomplete.

Reject

Reject duplicates, out-of-ICP accounts, unsupported need hypotheses or records below the agreed evidence standard.

Real production evidence & methodology

Common questions

B2B Sale Research scope, answered directly

How does D2 accept research dossiers versus enriched contacts?

B2B Sale Research dossiers are accepted against the client-approved ICP, evidence and timing requirements, with missing buyer/contact fields identified explicitly. If Contact Enrichment is contracted, named buyers and verified direct business email addresses must also meet the contact validation standard. A research dossier does not guarantee a meeting or sale.

What does D2 actually deliver for each B2B lead?

Depending on scope: company/domain, ICP fit, qualification reason, observed signal and source/date where relevant, need hypothesis, last-verified date, buyer function, available verified contact route, confidence/unknowns and a suggested next action or CRM-ready handoff.

What counts as an accepted lead?

An accepted lead matches the agreed ICP and evidence rules for that project. D2 and the client define geography, industry, size, exclusions, signal/freshness requirements, buyer coverage and required contact fields before production.

Does every lead include a buying signal?

Only when signal evidence is part of the brief and a relevant observable event can be verified. A signal is a research/timing indicator, not proof that the company intends to buy.

How fresh is the data?

Each scoped record can carry signal published/observed dates and a last-verified date. The acceptable freshness window is agreed by market, source and use case rather than presented as one universal number.

Do all leads include email and phone?

No. D2 prioritizes the relevant decision-maker or function and the strongest verifiable professional/company contact route available. Email backup can be retained when found; phone availability is disclosed and is only a required field when the scope says so.

What happens when a delivered record is wrong or below the agreed standard?

The reason is classified—such as duplicate, out of ICP, stale evidence, wrong buyer or contact issue—and handled under the rejection/replacement rules agreed for the pilot or engagement.

Can D2 research accounts internationally?

Yes, subject to the actual brief, source availability, language and contact coverage in the requested market. D2 does not treat 'worldwide' as a guarantee that every country has identical data depth.

Who performs outreach and closes the sale?

The client's sales or growth team owns outreach, reply handling, meetings, proposals, negotiation and closing under the current public service scope. D2 delivers the intelligence layer upstream of that work.

Can I review five accounts before a monthly research contract?

D2 may offer a conditional, view-only review of up to five account briefs after checking ICP feasibility and public sources. Direct contact data, outreach and appointments are not automatically included. A Google Meet discussion can follow the review.

How are monthly B2B Sale Research retainers priced?

Reference packages are Core at 7.9 million VND for 40 research hours, Growth at 11.9 million VND for 60 hours, and Scale at 19.9 million VND for 100 hours per month. Output depends on ICP difficulty, research depth and source availability. Email Outreach and Appointment Setting are optional add-ons.

Start with a bounded intelligence pilot

Need custom B2B lead research instead of another generic prospect list?

Share the target market, offer, ICP, buyer roles and required data fields. D2 can validate a bounded sample and define the acceptance standard before recurring delivery.
