B2B Lead Intelligence · Account research

B2B account research that starts with your ICP, not a purchased company list.

For sales teams that know whom they want to serve but need the right companies selected, checked and explained. D2 researches target accounts, documents inclusion and exclusion decisions, maps relevant buyers and validates contactability before any record is counted as a completed lead.

Direct answer

What does D2's B2B account research service deliver?

D2 builds a qualified account universe from an approved Ideal Customer Profile (ICP). Each candidate is screened for market, industry, operating context and exclusions; material claims retain source and verification context. Buyer mapping and contact verification are separate acceptance gates. A company that fits the ICP but lacks a verified named buyer and direct business email remains account research, not a completed lead.

When to use this service

When account research is the right purchase

The existing CRM is full of unknown-quality companies, duplicated records or broad categories.

A new offer requires account selection using use case, industry, size, geography and exclusions instead of one database filter.

Sales needs to know WHY_SELECTED and WHAT_WE_KNOW before spending outreach time.

An internal team can run outreach and closing but cannot maintain consistent sourcing, QA and research freshness.

Signals & verification

Evidence and buying signals are not the same thing

For L1, D2 can qualify an account without proving buying intent. L2 scans dated observable changes and may return NO_VERIFIED_SIGNAL. L3 develops a supported opportunity thesis with counter-evidence, not a guaranteed purchase.

New operational site or capacity expansion relevant to the offer

Relevant team hiring or a technology rollout with verifiable dates

Distributor or procurement-model change affecting the solution fit

A public project or compliance change with an identifiable buyer function

How we research

From brief to an accepted record

  1. Step 1

    Define

Agree offer, target market, ICP, must-have fields, exclusions and L1/L2/L3 evidence depth.

  2. Step 2

    Discover

Build candidates using applicable company registers, business sites and relevant public or permitted sources.

  3. Step 3

    Qualify

Record observed facts separately from inference; check activity, role relevance, dates and freshness.

  4. Step 4

    Accept or hold

Release a completed lead only through the named-buyer and verified direct-email gate; keep CONTACT_GAP and BUYER_GAP visible.

What a research record looks like

Illustrative account handoff — not a real customer or a sales outcome

ICP fitVietnam-based industrial manufacturer; offer requires plant automation; approved exclusions applied.
Why selectedPlant processes and documented operating facilities are relevant to the offered solution.
EvidencePublic company source + dated project or operating evidence, checked against the research brief.
Buyer and contactPlant/engineering owner identified; named-person DIRECT professional email is required for completed-lead acceptance.
StatusQA_PASS only after mandatory fields and contact gate; otherwise BUYER_GAP / CONTACT_GAP.

Scope and limitations

  • Vietnam is the currently Supported B2B target market; other geographies require a scoped pilot or feasibility review.
  • No automatic claim that a company is buying, has budget or will answer outreach.
  • D2 provides research and CRM-ready handoff; client sales owns messages, replies, meetings, proposals and closing.

Evidence, not promises

D2's public anonymized research/QA cohort explains how records are accepted or held. It is process evidence, not a claim that this particular industry or buyer use case has already produced customer revenue.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is account research the same as buying a lead database?

No. A database may help discovery. D2 applies client-specific ICP and exclusions, checks material evidence, maps buyer relevance and records QA outcomes.

Does a matching company count as one delivered completed lead?

Not by itself. Under the current production standard, the record needs a named relevant buyer and that person's verified DIRECT business email with VALID status.

Can D2 research accounts in the United States?

US research is currently feasibility/pilot-only. D2 does not advertise it as a Supported country without repeatable direct-contact validation.

Who performs outreach after delivery?

The client's sales team. D2 does not include managed outreach, reply handling or meeting setting in the standard service.
