B2B SALES RESEARCH / INDUSTRIAL SUPPLIERS

Research factories and projects that fit the equipment you sell—and their real buying path.

Industrial sellers need more than a list of factories. An electrical supplier, machine vendor or automation integrator must distinguish the plant owner, engineering function, EPC and MEP contractor and actual procurement entity. D2 researches these roles and signals, not unverified purchase orders.

Vietnam-supported B2B research; other-country briefs require feasibility review. All examples on this page are illustrative, not actual D2 client assignments or verified buyer intent.

Seller → target account / direct answer

Who hires D2, and which companies should D2 research for them?

The industry of the seller is not automatically the industry of its target customer.

Company buying D2 research

What does the seller offer?

Industrial machinery, electrical and power equipment, automation, HVAC, industrial components and plant maintenance vendors.

Accounts to research

Who might purchase that offer?

Factories, industrial owners, EPC/MEP contractors and technical buying organizations whose projects could fit the seller's exact equipment specification.

Important exclusion: Industrial park landlord, tenant, asset owner, EPC and MEP contractor are different buyer types. One project must not be counted as multiple confirmed customers.

Sales reality / qualification

Where ordinary prospecting lists fall short

Public investment news rarely identifies the party buying equipment, specification ownership, tender deadlines or incumbent suppliers. Sales needs an evidenced technical hypothesis.

ICP and exclusion gates to agree

01

Specify equipment class, capacity, certification, use case and reachable installation/service regions.

02

Define which legal or procurement unit may buy: plant owner, EPC, MEP, contractor or distributor.

03

Verify facility/plant type, operating phase, expansion stage and product suitability with dated sources.

04

Exclude incumbent clients, incompatible specs, completed awards, restricted tenders and out-of-area accounts.

Evidence / timing / inference

Which business events could justify deeper investigation?

D2 checks dated evidence and relevance. An observed change never automatically means an approved purchase.

SIGNAL 01

Plant or production expansion

Review primary investment announcement, milestone and realistic technical relevance; an expansion alone does not establish equipment demand.

SIGNAL 02

EPC or MEP appointment

Check named contractor and project scope to understand which party specifies or buys equipment.

SIGNAL 03

Engineering hiring

Dated technical vacancies may inform operational context but not verify an approved CAPEX budget.

SIGNAL 04

Industrial infrastructure tender

Verify original notice, product specification, tender stage and eligibility; expired opportunities stay excluded.

When no credible relevant source is found, the dossier should state NO_VERIFIED_SIGNAL or UNKNOWN rather than invent buying intent.

Research outputs / evidence

What should the Sales team actually receive?

Delivery volume, quality tier, contact standard and accepted gaps must be approved in the research brief.

OUTPUT 01

Factory and project accounts

Company/site identity, location, operations and technical fit rationale.

OUTPUT 02

Evidence and timing dossier

Sourced milestones, project activity, specification details and uncertainties.

OUTPUT 03

Buying-route assessment

Owner, engineering, EPC/MEP and procurement roles with verification levels.

OUTPUT 04

Sales next-action brief

Technical questions, contact GAP, exclusions, CRM dedup and acceptance criteria.

Buying functions to investigate

Plant / Engineering / Maintenance

Potential technical validators, not automatically budget owners.

Project Owner / EPC / MEP

Separate the teams responsible for design, procurement, contract and integration.

Procurement / CAPEX

Review approval functions and vendor qualification only where evidenced.

Methodology / how it works

From seller brief to a reviewable account

  1. STEP 01

    Define technical offer

Lock specification, installation geography, certifications and non-fit applications.

  2. STEP 02

    Screen plants and projects

Cross-check entities, operating status, project phase and dated sources.

  3. STEP 03

    Research buying pathway

Differentiate owner, EPC/MEP, engineering and procurement at the actual project stage.

  4. STEP 04

    QA and deliver

Provide WHY_SELECTED, original evidence, contact status, unanswered specifications and next Sales question.

Fictional illustration / not a client case

Fictional factory power-equipment account

This four-part example demonstrates an evidence review. It does not describe a verified account, customer project or past commercial result.

01 / Illustrative observation

A hypothetical food factory announces a new production line; no real company or contract is represented.

02 / Conditional inference

Additional production might create a relevant electrical requirement if sourcing is not already contracted.

03 / Remaining verification

Power demand, equipment specifications, EPC/MEP ownership, commissioning and vendor-selection status.

04 / Recommended Sales question

Sales checks product fit and asks the appropriate engineering function whether supplier approval is open.

FAQ

Questions to resolve before commissioning research

Can D2 find factories with investment activity?

It can research dated and attributable public announcements against the approved equipment ICP.

Who actually buys factory equipment?

It depends on the project and contracts. D2 separates owner, engineering, EPC/MEP and purchasing roles.

Does every expansion mean an active tender?

No. Equipment may already be specified or procured, or the project may not need the seller's category.

What if the specification is unavailable?

The missing technical fact remains UNKNOWN or HOLD instead of being invented.

Share Target, Exclusion, Buyer, Timing and Sales Reality. D2 can review source feasibility, buyer/contact standards and a bounded monthly or pilot scope; this is not a promise of free records or booked meetings.
