Malaysia Creator Commerce Methodology
D2’s Malaysia methodology separates verified platform facts, observed local-market terminology, platform-reported metrics and editorial guidance, then blocks any page whose important claims cannot be traced to evidence or a valid data snapshot.
Source hierarchy
- Official TikTok Shop Malaysia and TikTok for Business documentation.
- D2 first-party campaign or operational data when available.
- Validated market-intelligence datasets with a stated sample and period.
- Reputable Malaysian industry sources for terminology and commercial context.
Claim types
Pages distinguish verified facts, observed facts, derived metrics, inferences, limitations and editorial guidance. Platform rules are not rewritten as “market averages,” and local agency vocabulary is not treated as an official TikTok taxonomy.
Numeric claims
A numeric Malaysia claim must state the metric, unit, period or policy date, source and limitation. Platform-reported figures are labelled as platform-reported; commerce-weighted or top-N samples are not presented as the whole creator population.
What remains intentionally unpublished
Creator rates, campaign costs, creator GMV benchmarks, category benchmarks and top-creator directories remain unpublished when the required comparable dataset is missing. D2 does not infer paid fees from follower count or GMV.
Freshness
Fast-moving creator and category data should be reviewed roughly monthly; platform mechanics roughly quarterly or when official documentation changes; operational guidance roughly every six months; methodology annually.
Scope
This methodology covers buyer-facing content evidence and publication quality. Performance measurement systems and internal research tooling are outside the public evidence contract.
